Hi! I’m Ash, the nail tech at Avara.

Based in Chester, I am VTCT level 3 qualified and offer gel nail treatments including builder gel and hard gel structured manicures and extensions from my home studio. Appointments here are private and down to earth, and I love creating beautiful, durable nails that fit into your everyday life.

Nails are personal. It’s not just about how they look, it’s how they help us feel too. More confident, professional, put together or just like ourselves. Whether it's self-care, relaxation, stress relief or self-expression, everyone has their own reasons for wanting their nails done.

It doesn't matter if you always have them, only have a set for special occasions or have never had them done before. Whether you choose the same colour every time or prefer a natural short set, that’s fine.

If you have no idea what you like yet, we’ll figure it out together.

There's no airs and graces here, just great nails in a relaxed space, so pop along and be yourself!

How I Work

For me, protecting your natural nails and keeping them healthy is equally as important as them looking gorgeous. Yes, what we can see on the surface matters: the smooth shaping, neat polish and a glossy finish. But so does the condition of your nails underneath.

Every step of preparing your natural nails is gentle, thorough and carried out using professional tools and products. Prep is one of the biggest factors in helping your nails last 3 - 4 weeks, so I don’t rush or cut corners. If I did, your nails simply won’t last as long as they should.

Personally, I can’t get you in and out in 40 minutes and be confident that you will still have your nails on 3 weeks later. I won't skip steps just to make an appointment quicker. You're trusting me with your nails, and paying for a treatment. That deserves to be done properly from start to finish.

I completely understand that might mean I'm not the right nail tech for everyone, and that's okay. I'd much rather be honest about how I work from the off.
Make Yourself Comfortable

What makes an appointment enjoyable can be different for everyone. You might love everything about having your nails done. You might love the finished set but not chatting or the sitting still. So, have your appointment how you want it.

This might be the only time you’ll get to yourself this week, and you just want a bit of peace and quiet. I'm happy to zip it and crack on. Or maybe you want to watch a couple of episodes uninterrupted? Just grab the tablet and put on what you want.

You might look forward to your appointment for a pamper and a natter. Tell me all about your job, family, friends, pets, hobbies, or rant about whatever’s driving you mad.

You can listen to the radio, your playlists, a podcast or an audio book. If you prefer headphones, pop them in and I’ll wave if I need you!

You might not be bothered about any of that, as long as you walk out with great nails.

None of the above is rude, awkward or weird. It’s your appointment and you should be comfortable.

New To Nails?

You might not have had your nails done before and you’re not sure what to book. I am happy to answer any questions you have if you want to get in touch, or if you prefer, have a look at the mini guide here.

Please remember, you don’t have to know exactly what you want or need before you visit. All of my appointment times have a little flexibility if needed (except for extensions but there’s more on this in the guide!).

The guide is just to try and be helpful if you’d like to know more before you do.
